1.52/82 – This is the stock spring on most new R Motion X skid frames. In our testing and measuring, it seems to only support a 130-160 lb rider.

1.66/80 – Dealers call this the ‘BIG BOY’ spring.  It is just long enough to be used in the R Motion X skid frame. We find it will hold up riders in the 150-180 lb range.

1.94/90 – This spring we use for riders in the 160-190 pound range in the new R Motion X skid. Things change month to month, but we think this is the heaviest spring BRP makes that is long enough for the R Motion X skid.

2.3X/80 – This is a custom spring modified in house for the R Motion X. This is not a BRP available spring. By itself, it will support riders in the 220 – 260 pound range. See chart below for selection.

2.6X/90 – This is a custom spring modified in house for the R Motion X. This is not a BRP available spring. By itself, it will support riders and gear in the 290 – 400 pound range. See chart below for selection.

Note: When selecting torsion springs, we usually add the weight of the gear that is ALWAYS on the back. If you only take a Linq bag or Fuel Caddy occasionally, you can add preload to accommodate for this. We aim for 3-3.5” of sag measured on 4 dollies to permit recovery from scrub friction. The dollie wheels must rotate. But, the chart below is from years of testing over and over again and should be very close. 129” skid’s act stronger and 137” skids act softer as the longer arms have more leverage on the torsion springs. Adjust your selection accordingly if you are on the fence.
