Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. We will be closed today so that I can unload this trailer full of firewood and spend time with family lol. Enjoy the day and here is a little sprinkling of suspension input, showing the dual rate springs doing their thing on our old trusted Yamaha grizzly.

Dual rate springs give you a soft initial rate and a strong end rate. It can be beneficial to maintain or improve comfort while still having a large bottom spring to carry big loads such as heavy trailers, outback or a plough full of snow out front.

These simple Stage 1 and Stage 2 Elkas are reasonably priced and give the grizzly a massive improvement in comfort and load carrying capability with the same springs. Truly a huge improvement over stock.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

Jen has been decorating for the fall and Halloween as it fast approaches and we’ve been switching into snowmobile mode hard and fast for our amazing winter customers. This is a quick tour of what was in the shop and left Wednesday Thursday and Friday, as our snowmobile customers have been pouring in.

Anyway, we are trying to stay out of the shop this weekend to focus on family, friends, and all that we have to be thankful for . These forks are off Dennis’ Husqvarna. Dennis had an epic crash late this summer in the Ganaraska forest. With the wheel and subframe extensively damaged, we wanted to check the triple clamp and fork tubes for any bend or damage. We reassembled the whole front end in a jig here and are using our glass surface plates that we sell to check for twist in the triple clamps. We also put the upper and lower triple clamp on a granite surface plate to check for any deflection that way as well.

I just thought this was a cool photo. Fortunately Dennis is doing fine and reports he was “shaken not stirred” lol. We coated the upper and lower tubes early this spring and they have been holding up great!

Remember to change your oil occasionally. These are the pressurized cartridges out of a YZ. You can see the wear through the anodizing from abrasive oil. Just because the forks aren’t leaking doesn’t mean they wouldn’t appreciate getting all the contamination flushed out once a season.

2025 MAVERICK SET UP. Kevin was dismayed how low in the suspension travel his new UTV was and how hard the suspension felt right from the dealership. We did a full set up on it and installed FCR racing billet nitrogen caps to replace the leaky Fox shock N2 caps, and in the end LIFTED IT UP BY 4” THE RIGHT WAY!!!!

We set preload, damping and crossover point to give maximum bump comfort. Can’t wait to hear how he likes it!!!!!

TECH TIP: Wiggle your shifter. This one is loose at 2600 km!

There’s a ton of moving parts on your shifter and they all see a lot of lateral friction and resistance. The actual actuator clamped on the spine holds one of the most common bolts that comes loose on a motorcycle, it just backs out over time and use. So do yourself a favour today, lol wiggle your shifter and look at what’s moving and how much it’s moving.

Just because they say OHLINS on them, doesn't mean they are so awesome that they never need service! These forks were disgusting LOL.

LESSON: Forks eat brake dust. The abrasive particulate that sprays out of your calipers every time you grab your brakes hard, lands right on the forks. Then guess what, the front end dives at exactly the same time and over time, gets by the wipers and then the seals. Then it sits in the bushings and wears out the tubes. As this process occurs, the forks get stickier and stickier as dirt and brake dust doesn't slide very well. Tire wear escalates and handling deteriorates.
